How does the atmosphere near the surface respond to changes in the motion of sea ice in an Arctic undergoing change?
What are you most excited about the expedition?
I'm excited to be part of such a large project--I expect to be working with the data from this project for a long time. I expect that adapting to weather is going to a challenge, because we need to be able to safely use the helicopters to deploy the buoys.
What do you love most about the Arctic?
I find the balance between extreme power and extreme sensitivity in the Arctic climate system to be moving. It is a beautiful and dangerous place, and it is vulnerable to the effects of humans on the climate.
