Tasks
My main tasks are to maintain and analyze gas flux measurements from the ship tower and from the met tower located at about 500m from ship. The gases are carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), dimethylsulfide (DMS) and ozone (O3). I will also perform dynamic-chamber surface flux surveys around the ice camp and in the vicinity of sea ice sampling locations. I will also assist with other measurement when possible.

What are you most excited about the expedition?
First I am very excited to be in the winter to spring transition leg so that I can experience both darkness and daylight conditions. Spring will also be a good time for some life and gas, like DMS, to emerge. In addition I am looking forward to meet new persons, as well as observing more of the Arctic environment like auroras, polar bears (from far away), etc... I don't expect any major challenges beside the rigors of the Arctic environment and the need to maintain measurements over an entire year.
What do you love most about the Arctic?
The fact this is a remote region and that despite its ongoing changes the Arctic remains a pristine environment to discover and understand.
