Sara Morris

Sara Morris, a CIRES scientist from Boulder, Colorado, who also works in NOAA’s Physical Sciences Division, will serve as the U.S. Coordinator for MOSAiC, working remotely, to facilitate both the science and communication of the MOSAiC expedition. Morris, whose key science focus is atmospheric fluxes, will work on project communications, coordination, logistics and data management. Morris also assisted in the building of remote systems that will be deployed during MOSAiC. She explores key science questions such as:

  • How the surface energy budget responds in the Arctic?

  • How can instruments be improved to function in Arctic conditions?

Tasks

I am responsible for the coordination of logistics, communication, science meetings/workshops and data management. I will also assist in facilitating the development and building of the atmospheric surface flux systems for the atmosphere team.

Science Questions

How the surface energy budgets response in the Arctic, and how instruments can be improved to function in Arctic conditions.

What are you most excited about the expedition?

I'm most excited to see what data comes out of this experiment... to look at the system as a whole is something very exciting and unique

What do you love most about the Arctic?

How quiet, unrelenting, untouched, and beautiful the environment is up there
